Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)

Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Award

Purpose:

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Award enhances opportunities for you to participate in research and creative activities under the guidance of faculty. You can a submit proposal for a project sponsored by faculty with whom you will collaborate. Research projects focus on developing and testing a hypothesis or theory using methods relevant to one or more the academic discipline(s). Creative projects develop new materials -- artistic, literary, educational or physical -- by methods other than those traditionally considered “research.”

Funding:

UROP funds proposals at a maximum of $3,050 each. Up to $2,300 is available for students. When more than one student is involved, funding will be divided between or among the students as indicated in the project's budget. A project can involve up to three undergraduates working with one faculty mentor.

The Wayne State University Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Award funding is officially considered financial aid. If the award amount exceeds your total remaining unmet needs, it may impact the overall amount of financial aid you receive or alter your financial aid package.

Faculty mentors may receive up to $750. Although faculty may mentor more than one project, the maximum payout is $750 per cycle.
